Walking the lonely road

Alright, just got my examination results on Friday. Wasn't very good this semester. The only thing I can speak of is my MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions) grade - Z a.k.a Distinction
Well, I amjust glad that I did not fail any subject.
However, I still worry for my GPA which would have an effect on my university admission.

Attended my school's Aquatholon on Friday, its actully a cooperative with St Joseph's Institution, then went for a refreshing swim in the Shaw Pool at ACS (Barker Road) and attended the launch dinner of the School's Family Center. Sat next to the VIP table, enjoyed it!

Got a busy week ahead of me. Tomorrow there's flambe, gueridon and sauce design training at the Tourism Academy, the post World Youth Conference and TPJC event, worship rehearsels and Service with Style, on Wednesday.

I just hope I don't burnout before everything is over.

Le Musee d'Louvre

Its been exactly one week after the examinations. A great relief to know that the nightmare of 5 papers (1 at night) is finally over. After the fourth exam, I could hardly think.

Right now, I am kind of chair - ridden, as in, I can barely walk.

This is due to standing for 8 hours straight during the Singapore Tourism Board Star Awards at The Esplanade, 2 days ago.
Not to mention I had a hard time getting a cab and arrived home at 12.30am, with a reporting time of 7am the next day. I made it to work though, but I could hardly stay awake.

I just cannot understand why a successful company who owns 19 F & B outlets in Singapore would only pay their staff $5.50 per hour. If I had the chance to speak to its senior management I would tell them this, "The market rate for a trained hospitality student is at least $6 or $7 per hour, you do understand the difficulties of sourcing for part time staff with that level of pay do you?"
Furthermore, is their disorganized way of handling a briefing day. In fact, you should not let part - timers sit around for 1 hour doing nothing, and then ask them to push racks of wine glasses half way round the Theatre by the Bay. Thank goodness I had my fill from the Founder's Day Celebration.
On top of that I received a compliment from a guest saying, "Chef, you're the best." I don't think I deserve or will ever earn that title, but anyhows.
No doubt all the downs from the event, it felt like our own HTM reunion, seeing so many familiar faces (Mr Yeo Li Pheow, Mr Philip Lim, Chef Eric Teo, Ms Bernadette Toh, Sess, Gauthaman, Anwar, Karen and so many more)

Anyway, my stomach has been acting up too, and I still pig alot, the MOE Health Screening Day told me that my BMI has hit 23. Not from up to down, but from side to side, you know what I mean.

Yesterday, I spent an aimless day not knowing what to do or where to go.
Fell asleep on an old lady when I was on the MRT, then took a long daunting journey by bus to Katong Village. On the way, I passed by many familiar landmarks which I had visited years ago.
Had a lonely dinner at Waraku Japanese Restaurant (Jovi's workplace). Where I had to deliver the ultimatum for the "Service with Style" event. Then went home to watch American Idol and the News. After which I "crashed" on my bed.
The only uplift yesterday was the Sex Education workshop cum drama put up by Cornerstone Community Church, where I met Jodin and Julianne. Great show guys, keep it up!

Today, I met Ben (one of my closer Secondary School friends & now my partner in education).
It was a very interesting Saturday spent. Visiting the Singapore Art and Philatelic Museum.
Very rarely do you have time to slow down and appreciate the architecture and fine arts painstakingly put together by the passionate artists.
The portraits and sculptures depicted stories of Southeast Asia's struggle through Colonialism and the fight towards Nationalism. Then there was the crucifixion of Jesus Christ painted in realism and cubism form.

Realism basically refers to paintings which are drawn to illustrate real life, while cubism is done through the use of many different colors splattered all over. At a glance, you would just see it as a blob of paint, but if you looked closer, you would see that it actually shows a picture.

I just wished that every Saturday could be this slow moving, or like the Saturday a few weeks back, when I received an 'A' for one of my coursework subjects and got 3 job contacts from the top chefs of Singapore.

Speaking of grades, I am eager and anxious to know my examination results on 10th March. That day, every SMS would send tingles down our spines.
Then again, I trust in God, and leave it to him. If it is His will that I achieve a certain form of grades, so be it, not my will but His be accomplished.

All the best everyone! Will blog again (If I have time)
